Tournament Team Information 2022-23

AYSO Tournament soccer offers players in the 10U Division and above the opportunity to continue to develop their skills and compete after the Fall season ends. Teams may attend 1 or 2 tournaments a month and are great ways for players and parents to form new friendships and to advance the skills of the players and coaches. Quartz Hill AYSO encourages all eligible players, willing to commit to the tournament season, to tryout and give it their best effort. Please note that due to coaches or players we might not have teams in every division.

Selection & Eligibility Information

Tournament Team Selection, Eligibility & Tryout Information 2022-23

All players who are interested are encouraged to tryout. The number of players selected depends on how many qualified coaches and players we have. Some players may not make a team, but should be encouraged to enjoy the try-out experience and keep training.

Players may be selected in one of Three Categories:

Roster Player - A player selected to the active roster for that division. (Full Fees)

Alternate Player - A player selected to the reserve roster with an expectation to fill a spot if a Roster Player is unavailable. Each team should carry a minimum of 2-3 alternates (Uniform Purchase Optional, Admin Fees, Pays per tournament, if needed)

Developmental Player - Sometimes a coach will select developmental players to train with the team. Developmental Players are generally not expected to play in tournaments, but may train through the tournament season. (No Fees unless moved to Alternate status)

Eligibility - To be eligible, a player must have been Registered in Quartz Hill AYSO for the Fall 2022 Core Season and played in 60% of the teams matches. Exceptions will of course be made for matches missed due to injury. Players from other regions that do not offer a Tournament/Select program may attend try-outs only with the permission of the Region they were registered with in the Fall and approval by the Regional Commissioner. Players must attend at least one of the scheduled try-out sessions to remain eligible for selection. AYSO United Players are not eligible to try out for a spot on a Tournament Team. Not every situation can be covered here. The Regional Commissioner will make a determination on any exceptions within the spirit of the Quartz Hill AYSO Tournament Program.

Cost Information

Tournament Team Costs

If selected and accepted there is an initial fee, due upon acceptance, for uniforms, admin fees and money to cover at least the the first tournament. This has been $250 in past seasons but might go up a little as we finalize uniforms costs in this economy. After the initial payment the team will collect fees, usually monthly in order to register and pay for future tournaments. Tournaments cost anywhere from $55 to $90 per player, per tournament, depending on the tournament and how many Parent Referees the team can provide.

Tournament Try-out Information

Tryouts will be held at Joe Walker Middle School on October 23rd and October 30th at the times listed below. A third tryout may be held on a date to be determined if it is deemed necessary. We strongly encourage each player to attend as many tryouts as possible. All players must have a parent or guardian remain for the entire tryout since the tournament coaches will not have emergency medical release forms.
