Commissioner's Notes

THE BOARD NEEDS YOU

Quartz Hill AYSO will provide Soccer to over 1400 players this year.

The QHAYSO board has always been small for the size of our Region. Since Covid we've had to get by with even fewer. Following this season that number will be even less as we are losing a few more board members from key positions. It is the nature of youth sports boards that people step back as their kids move on. It can be a good thing though, bringing fresh ideas into the Region.

The Board is made up of parent volunteers, like you. The only requirement is a desire to help the program. There are obvious jobs in Coaching and Refereeing, but running a Region is running a business, so there is finance, admin, safety, support, purchasing, marketing, awards, etc.

AYSO offers free training for almost all positions and Quartz Hill AYSO annually sends volunteers to AYSO Expo conferences to get in-person training and to network with other AYSO Volunteers and Vendors.

For more information speak to any board member or contact Eric Dilger.

Thank you and enjoy Match Week 7!

Volunteer of the Week

Our Youth Referees: Giving a shout-out to our youth Referees this week. Youth Referees have completed 97 referee assignments so far this this season. This includes some taking on Center Referee positions in 12U and a few working towards their Intermediate Referee certifications. We are very proud of them and please make sure to support them out there. Check out the Youth Referee Stats for more.

Board Member of the Week

Gabe Canett: Gabe wears many hats in our Region; Safety Director, Tournament Teams Coordinator, Extra Coordinator, Coach and Referee. Gabe brings a lot to the table in managing these areas and the underlying administrative work that goes with each of those jobs. Gabe also develops our safety plans and as new events happen is always looking at ways the Region can better handle the unexpected in the future. Thank you, Gabe!
